Description:

(Edited on Aug 17) I guess you guys are up in arms because I claimed that VIKINGS sacked Rome. Well, I was wrong. Upon further research I learned that the Vikings did NOT SACK Rome, they OCCUPIED Rome. They were there for only 15 days or so. And? Then they went on their merry way. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that they took a lot of loot WITH THEM including the GOLD taken in 70 A.D. from the Temple in Jerusalem! (As in King Solomon or Bible fame.) But were these guys REALLY "Vikings"? Sort of. I guess. According to Pontus Hulten the Vandals seized so much of Europe and North Africa, NOT WITH A VIEW TO CONQUEST but because they were basically SEARFARERS from Denmark/Sweden (as shown in the Wiki map.) To put it bluntly, they behaved JUST LIKE VIKINGS! Why? Because they WERE Vikings. Sort of. I guess. Genetically speaking, of course. Duh. Click the link, guys: http://www.iht.com/articles/2001/08/25/blume_ed3_.php Now, here is what makes this "blowback" LIE so utterly perverse. America's involvement in the Middle East was related to the "Cold War" against the spread of Soviet style Socialism We were there in the name of Freedom!!!! Don't let ANYONE spread these sick lies againt the United States! We are NOT an Empire! The radical element of the Arab Muslim world wants to destroy Israel. Period!

The other candidates only wish they had the voting track record that Ron Paul holds. "The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon." - George Washington "The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just." - Abraham Lincoln I have posted a blog about Ron Paul that I would like you to take a look at. The link to it is listed in my profile. Spread the word, the media will not!

Let's just assume that your little video was even remotely close to being historically accurate (which it isn't), why do you think that one instance of an invasion that did not happen because of blowback (and the invasion of Rome did) automatically refutes all the other instances in which blowback is the cause for an invasion?

You have Ron Paul as a tag for this video. Do you agree with Rudy Giuliani? He thinks they attacked us because of our freedom. After watching the video, it seems you think they hate us because our empire is weak, which makes no sense. I hope you respond.

Rome HAD been attacking Germanic tribes previous to the invasion by the Germanic tribes, they had been imprisoning the people. Julius Caesar was a general that was posted in Gaul, which was parts of France, Germany, etc. and he brought back many prisoners of war.

Wow, you are so far off in your history, that I can't even decide on where to begin. First the "Vikings" you refer to are actually more properly called "Germanic Tribes", the people of western Europe at that time. The Vandals were a group from Carthage, in the northern Africa. "Vikings" is a term given to one of the Germanic groups, the one that wa sin Scandanavia, which was a minor group in the attack of Rome.

I see where you're going with this, but I still agree with the whole blowback idea, though perhaps it should be called instead "pissing people off." How is it hard to understand that if you screw a region over constantly they'll want to screw you too? As an aside, I personally think that terrorism isn't fueled by fundamentalist islam - which is just another manifestation of the same impulse - that is essentially a resistance movement. They want the US out.
